Workflow

Step 1 — Audience & Pain Point Discovery

Understand the context:

  • Target audience: Who are we trying to attract?
  • Primary pain point: What specific problem does this solve for them?
  • Product/service: What is the eventual offer this leads toward?
  • Desired lead magnet type: Checklist, template, guide, quiz, toolkit, calculator, mini-course, swipe file?
  • Delivery format: PDF, Notion template, Google Sheet, email course, interactive tool?

Step 2 — Value Proposition Design

Define the promise:

  • What specific, immediate value does the lead magnet deliver?
  • What makes it different from other free resources on the same topic?
  • What is the "quick win" the subscriber gets within 5 minutes of downloading?

Step 3 — Format Selection & Content Structuring

Design the content based on the chosen format:

  • Checklist: Step-by-step action items, organized logically, with checkboxes
  • Template/Worksheet: Fill-in-the-blank structure, clear instructions, example filled version
  • Mini-Guide (5–10 pages): Problem framing, step-by-step solution, examples, next steps
  • Quiz/Assessment: Questions with scoring logic, result tiers, personalized recommendations
  • Resource Toolkit: Curated list of tools/templates with descriptions and use cases
  • Swipe File: Collection of examples with analysis of why each works
  • Calculator/Planner: Input fields, calculation logic, output interpretation

Step 4 — Landing Page Copy

Draft the opt-in page with:

  • Headline: Crystal-clear value proposition
  • Subheadline: One sentence expanding the promise
  • Bullet points: 3–5 specific benefits of the lead magnet
  • Social proof: "Join X subscribers" or testimonial snippet (if available)
  • Form description: What they'll receive and how
  • CTA button: Action-oriented copy (not just "Submit")

Step 5 — Delivery Email Copy

Draft the welcome/delivery email:

  • Subject line: "Here's your [Lead Magnet Name]" + value reminder
  • Opening: Warm welcome, reinforce the value they'll get
