The Marketplace Fee Calculator skill helps ecommerce operators break down and compare the true cost of selling on Amazon, Shopee, TikTok Shop, Lazada, Walmart Marketplace, eBay, and other platforms so they can make data-driven decisions about which channels deserve their inventory and marketing investment.

What this skill does

This skill takes your product details — including selling price, product category, dimensions, weight, and the marketplaces you want to compare — and produces a detailed fee breakdown for each platform. It accounts for referral commissions (which vary by category, often ranging from 6% to 45%), fulfillment fees (FBA, Shopee Supported Logistics, TikTok Shop fulfillment, Lazada logistics), payment processing fees typically between 2% and 4%, listing fees, currency conversion charges for cross-border sales, and promotional or advertising surcharges. The output normalizes all costs to a per-unit basis so you can directly compare net revenue across channels and identify the most profitable platform for each product in your catalog.

Inputs required

  • product_name (required): The name or title of the product you are analyzing, e.g. "Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds Model X200"
  • selling_price (required): The retail selling price in your base currency, e.g. "$29.99 USD" or "RM 89.90"
  • product_category (required): The category the product falls under on each marketplace, e.g. "Electronics > Headphones" — this determines referral commission rates which can differ significantly between categories
  • weight_and_dimensions (required): Product weight in kg and package dimensions in cm (L x W x H), e.g. "0.15 kg, 18 x 12 x 6 cm" — needed for fulfillment fee calculations and shipping tier determination
  • marketplaces_to_compare (required): List of platforms to include in the comparison, e.g. "Amazon US, Shopee MY, TikTok Shop US, Lazada PH"
  • fulfillment_method (optional): Whether you use platform fulfillment (FBA, SSL, etc.) or self-ship — defaults to comparing both options when applicable so you can see the cost difference
  • monthly_sales_volume (optional): Estimated units sold per month per platform — allows calculation of storage fees, volume-based tier discounts, and amortized monthly subscription costs

Output format

The output is structured into four sections. First, a Summary Comparison Table showing each marketplace name, total fee percentage of selling price, estimated fee amount per unit in your base currency, estimated net revenue per unit, and a profitability rank from highest to lowest net margin. Second, a Detailed Fee Breakdown section for each marketplace listing every individual fee line item: referral or commission rate and dollar amount, fulfillment fee broken down by pick-and-pack and weight handling (if applicable), payment processing fee, fixed per-order fees, monthly storage fees prorated per unit, subscription or account fees amortized per unit, and any platform-specific charges such as Shopee service fee, TikTok Shop transaction fee, or Lazada commission adjustments. Third, a Cross-Border Considerations section noting currency conversion fees (typically 1-3%), withholding taxes, VAT or GST implications, and international logistics surcharges for sellers operating across borders. Fourth, a Recommendations section advising which platforms offer the best margin for this specific product, suggesting optimal pricing adjustments to maintain target margins on higher-fee platforms, and flagging any category-specific fee traps or promotions that could affect the calculation.
