Address Change Mailing Label Checklist

A printable address update checklist with organization categories, status columns, old-address mail capture log, safe new-address label blanks, and follow-up date boxes.

Trigger

Use this skill when the user is moving, has mail going to the wrong place, or needs to update many organizations and wants one printable tracker plus safe mailing label notes.

Workflow

Step 1: Gather move context

Ask the user for:

  • Move type (permanent, temporary, student, seasonal, work relocation)
  • Target completion date for address updates
  • Broad account categories that need updates (bank, employer, school, medical, subscriptions, government, utilities, shipping, friends/family)

Step 2: Build organization list by category

Ask the user to list organizations and contacts that need the new address. Example categories:

  • Financial: banks, credit cards, investment accounts, loan providers
  • Employment: HR, payroll, benefits administrator
  • Education: schools, colleges, student loan servicers
  • Medical: doctors, dentists, specialists, pharmacy, health insurance
  • Insurance: auto, home, renters, life
  • Subscriptions: magazines, streaming, box deliveries, memberships
  • Government: DMV, voter registration, tax agencies, social services
  • Delivery: Amazon, grocery delivery, package lockers
  • Personal: friends, family, community groups

Step 3: Create status tracker

Generate a printable table with these columns:

  • Organization name and category
  • Status: Not Started, Submitted, Confirmed, Waiting, Follow Up
  • Date contacted or submitted
  • Confirmation received (yes/no)
  • Notes (account number hint, phone, website, or reference -- but remind user NOT to print full account numbers or passwords)

Step 4: Add old-address mail capture log

Create a log section for mail that still arrives at the old address after the move date:

  • Date received at old address
  • Sender name
  • Action taken (forwarded, picked up, contacted sender, updated address)
  • Resolved (yes/no)

Step 5: Generate safe mailing label blanks

Create printable mailing label templates with:

  • Spaces for name and new address only
  • A bold reminder: "Do NOT print sensitive identity details on these labels"
  • Options: full sheet of identical labels, or varied labels for different household members

Step 6: Add priority lane

Create a priority section for time-sensitive items:

  • Bills and utilities
  • Medical notices and prescriptions
  • School communications
  • Legal and court documents
  • Tax documents
  • Paychecks and direct deposit confirmations
  • Insurance policies

Step 7: Final verification checklist

Generate a verification checklist covering:

  • USPS or local postal mail forwarding activated
  • Package delivery addresses updated (Amazon, Walmart, etc.)
  • Saved retailer addresses updated in browser and apps
  • All household members have updated their organizations
  • Auto-pay and billing addresses updated
  • Emergency contacts have new address
  • Pet microchip and vet records updated

Step 8: Follow-up cards

Produce two follow-up reminder cards:

  • One-week check: Review old-address mail capture log, resubmit any unconfirmed updates
  • One-month check: Verify all critical items confirmed, cancel or adjust mail forwarding if needed, check for stray mail

Deliverable

A printable multi-page address change organizer including:

  1. Organization category checklist with status tracker
  2. Old-address mail capture log
  3. Safe mailing label blanks (user fills in only what they choose to print)
  4. Priority lane for time-sensitive items
  5. Final verification checklist
  6. One-week and one-month follow-up cards

Safety Boundary

  • Does NOT submit change-of-address forms
  • Does NOT access user accounts
  • Does NOT request identity numbers
  • Does NOT provide legal advice
  • Does NOT guarantee official mail forwarding
  • Tells users to verify requirements directly with each organization
  • Instructs users to avoid printing sensitive identity details such as SSN, full account numbers, or passwords on any printable output

Example Prompts

Copy and paste any of these prompts:

  1. "I'm moving to a new apartment in 3 weeks. Help me create a printable checklist to track my address changes. I need to update my bank, credit cards, employer, doctor, pharmacy, Amazon, and USPS mail forwarding. I also want mailing labels with just my name and new address."

  2. "Make me an address change organizer. I need categories for financial, medical, subscriptions, government, and personal contacts. Include a log for mail that still arrives at my old place, and a priority section for bills and legal documents."

  3. "I changed my address 2 weeks ago and mail is still going to my old place. Create a mail capture log and a one-week follow-up checklist so I can track which organizations still have my old address."

Install-First Success Path

Input: User says "I'm moving next month. Help me make an address change checklist with categories for banks, doctors, subscriptions, and government agencies."

Steps:

  1. Gather move context: permanent move, target completion 2 weeks before move date
  2. Build organization list across categories: financial (2 banks, 3 credit cards), medical (doctor, dentist, pharmacy), subscriptions (streaming, magazines), government (DMV, voter registration)
  3. Create status tracker table with columns: Organization, Category, Status, Date Submitted, Confirmed, Notes
  4. Add old-address mail capture log section
  5. Generate safe mailing label blanks with privacy warning
  6. Add priority lane for time-sensitive items (bills, medical, legal)
  7. Add final verification checklist
  8. Add one-week and one-month follow-up reminder cards
